Your chakras are spinning wheels of energy that attract the vital life force into your energy field and into your body. They move in and out of balance continuously in response to what is going on in your mind, body spirit complex.
The seven primary chakras sit just outside the body in the energy field and are located in the front and in the back of the body. Their colors correspond to the colors of the rainbow. As life force enters the seven primary chakras, it is conveyed to the meridians, energy channels that run through the body. To picture this you can think of a bath tub full of water. When you open the plug, the water drains from the bathtub into the drain and passes to the pipes. The drain is like the chakras. When the plug is in place the water cannot flow into the pipes. This is the same for your energy system. When a chakra is blocked, the energy cannot flow into the meridians and imbalance begins. From the meridians, energy passes to the endocrine glands. Each of the seven primary chakras corresponds to one of the seven primary endocrine glands.
The pituitary gland, located in the brain, connects to the crown chakra
The pineal gland, located in the center of the brain, connects to the third eye chakra
The thyroid, located in the throat, connects to the throat chakra
The thymus gland, located near the heart, connects to the heart chakra
The pancreas, located near the stomach, connects to the solar plexus
The ovaries in the female and testes in the male connect to the sacral chakra
The adrenal glands, located on top of the kidneys, connect to the root chakra
The endocrine glands control the production of hormones in the physical body and the hormones regulate every function of the body. For example, when you are under stress Adrenaline and Noradrenaline are produced by the adrenal glands and these increase heart rate and raise blood pressure. Every function of the body is controlled by hormones and the balance of hormones in your body is continually responding to your emotional, physical and mental stress factors. Basic body functions, like the urge to go to the bathroom, and physical hunger, are stimulated by hormone changes in your body. Hormones also influence your moods. Seratonin is one of the hormones that regulates moods. Imbalances of seratonin can change your state from happy to sad or depressed. Melatonin regulates sleep cycles. An imbalance of melatonin can lead to sleep loss which in turn can lead to you feeling out of sorts and unfocused. Both seratonin and melatonin are produced in the pineal gland and other places in the body too. The third eye is not just about being psychic. It is also the seat of your intuition and creative, artistic expression. If you are, for example, working on a painting, a book or some other creative project, a balanced third eye will help you to think and create with clear focus. Your sacral chakra and solar plexus can also impact your creativity.
Your body is always seeking homeostasis, a state of balance in which hormone production is normal, versus in reaction to a stress factor such as illness, shock, fear, anger, etc. When the chakras are well balanced, the body can return to homeostasis. A well-balanced chakra system is therefore key to a healthy state physically and feelings of wellbeing mentally and emotionally.
There are many ways to balance your chakras. Here are just some:
Walking in nature and allowing the heartbeat of mother earth, the energy given off by the trees and living plants, and the harmony of the birds and other natural life, to fill you with a sense of peace.
Meditation - quieting the mind
Doing something to take your mind off your worries such as a game of chess or other strategy game
A tune up with tuning forks such as a Biofield Tuning chakra balancing
A chakra balancing using crystals, singing bowls or a pendulum
A Reiki treatment
A combination Reiki treatment with tuning forks, crystals, pendulum, etc.
